Burn Survivors Camps
Rising from the Ashes
Life after a fire is excruciatingly painful, alienating and complicated. From spending long days in recovery to coping with emotional distress, burn survivors have a long road ahead of them. It's difficult enough for an adult, but even more so for a child.
That's why we've partnered with the MetroHealth Medical Center Burn Unit and local firefighters to create Camp Phoenix – a place where children 5-16 can come and just be kids.
We're able to offer FREE open enrollment to all the young burn survivors in Northeast Ohio thanks to the funds earned from our aluminum can recycling program and community donations. With your help, these children can experience the joys of camp and meet other burn survivors just like them.
About Camp Phoenix
Creating lifelong friends is easy at the accredited Camp Cheerful, located in Strongsville, OH. Our campers will enjoy a number of activities such as field trips, swimming, horseback riding, crafts and more, curated by ACBC's screened volunteers, local firefighters and their families. Together, we give these children the opportunity to soar.
Many of our young survivors come from families who have been severely impacted by recent events, and we never want a child to be left out because they didn't have the resources. Funds donated to ACBC ensure they have the transportation, lodging, clothing, sleeping bags — anything they could possibly need for their time at Camp Phoenix.
